(WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA) Velocity Urgent Care (https://velocityuc.com) has announced the opening of a new urgent care center in the Wards Corner area of Norfolk, Virginia.  Velocity will open for business on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 7435 Granby Street, adjacent to the Sentara Internal Medicine Physicians and Physical Therapy Center already in the area. This announcement comes as the fourth new urgent care center opening for Velocity this year. It also makes 11 total locations for the fastest growing urgent care provider in the Commonwealth.

“We are thrilled to be bringing convenient, high-quality healthcare to the Wards Corner neighborhood,” said Velocity Urgent Care CEO Alan Ayers, “With this being our second location in Norfolk, we are expanding the reach of our care and access to excellent healthcare to our patients in the area.”

The Wards Corner area of Norfolk was once one of the most popular retail centers in Norfolk and the southern states. In fact, the Wards Corner neighborhood was the home of many high-end merchandise retailers all the way back in the early 1900s. Now, 100+ years later, the Wards Corner area is starting a revival, making good on decade-old promises to bring life back to the area. Thanks to the combined efforts of citizens and government officials; lower crime rates, businesses returning, and property redevelopment are just some of the happenings in Norfolk’s Wards Corner area. Officials hope to bring the bustling commercial scene back to Wards Corner in the coming years and Velocity is excited to be a part of the revitalization.

Velocity Urgent Care centers are staffed with friendly, experienced staff, and offer no-appointment-necessary visits for minor illnesses and injuries. Visiting urgent care is the right solution for conditions that can’t wait for a primary care physician but don’t require an emergency room visit. Velocity Urgent Care is equipped to treat cold and flu symptoms, coughs, earaches, headaches, sprains, strains, fractures, minor cuts, scrapes, and rashes. They also perform on-site x-rays and common lab tests. Consumers will be pleased to know that most insurance is accepted—including Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare—and there is a “no surprises” self-pay option as well.

The new location will be open 7-days-a-week, from 8:00am-8:00pm Monday through Friday, and from 8:00am-4:00pm on the weekends.

For residents of the Wards Corner area, the opening of Velocity Urgent Care means convenient, close-to-home access to excellent healthcare. Velocity Urgent Care centers get most patients in and out in under 45 minutes, resolving your health care needs with a “wow” patient experience. Patients just walk in or reserve a spot online to bypass the waiting.

“We’re eager to bring our modern, easy-access care into a community with such a rich history. We look forward to ensuring that Wards Corner, Norfolk, and neighboring residents have excellent care close-by for years to come,” said Ayers.

Velocity Urgent Care will be expanding into the Northern Virginia while continuing to add locations across Hampton Roads in the coming months.
